Renaissance - Scheherazade & Other Stories - 5.1 DVD upmix review

Esoteric Recordings has reissued and re-mastered “Scheherazade & Other Stories,” the classic and beloved album from progressive rock band Renaissance. The limited 2 CD + 1 DVD (Region Free) expanded clamshell boxed edition has been re-mastered from the original first-generation master tapes in high-resolution audio, plus the DVD includes an all-new high-resolution 5.1 surround sound upmix of the original album. The set also features 11 additional tracks, a concert in Nottingham from a performance January 1976, along with previously unreleased studio out-takes. The DVD also includes a previously unreleased live promotional film from 1976.

The album was recorded at Abbey Road studios back in May 1975, and often regarded as the band’s finest works, featuring the epic Song “Scheherazade” which effectively was the entire second side of the original vinyl LP release. Also, other fan favorites from the album include “Trip to the Fair,” “Ocean Gypsy” and “The Vultures Fly High.” The album reached the US Top 50 charts and has been one of the best-selling Renaissance albums.
