For an artist that receives so many opposing opinions, this bestselling German album has now been released on Pure Audio Blu-ray for the first time. This limited edition contains the concert video from the Arena AufSchalke (2003), which has been re-mastered in HD and Dolby Atmos. But for fans, it is likely the hi-res remaster of the successful album presented in Dolby Atmos. This edition also includes the original hybrid SACD from 2002 reissued as a historical time document.
“Mensch” was first released in 2002 and became Herbert Grönemeyer's most successful album to date. With more than 3.1 million copies sold, and even reached Platinum status prior to the release date based on pre-orders. The album was recorded at London’s Mayfair Studios with his longtime producer Alex Silva. Producing his albums in the best possible recording quality, it is these original hi-res recordings that became the basis for this Blu-ray edition with a resolution of 96kHz / 24-bit. The disc contains a 5.1 surround mix, along with a stereo mix, and it is the surround version that served as the basis for the Dolby Atmos mastering of the album.
Additionally, fans will surely be delighted that “Mensch – Live” is also appearing for the first time on Blu-ray featuring the two-day Arena AufSchalke concert from 2003 during the “All the best from yesterday to man” tour. Grönemeyer’s classics such as “Bochum,” “Men,” “Airplanes in the Belly “and “Man” are found here. The concert recording was made in front of more than 65,000 spectators, characterized by great emotionality, although the video recording technology of the time lacked the detail of modern standards. Like the album, the concert is also available in stereo, 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos.
Best for fans of Herbert Grönemeyer and audiophiles seeking to add audio perfection into their collection. Forum comments have noted that anyone who has ever doubted the meaning of Dolby Atmos will likely switch sides immediately.
