Booka Shade release their ninth studio album “Dear Future Self” on multiple formats, and naturally of most interest to Hi-Res Edition readers is the Blu-ray Audio edition which contains an ultra-high quality 3D audio and stereo codecs that is compatible with all Blu-ray surround and stereo systems.
As leaders, purveyors, and pioneers within the melodic realms of house and techno, German duo Booka Shade have remained at the forefront of the scene for over 25 years. Following on from their earlier album “Cut the Strings” in 2018, they have now unveiled this thirteen-track LP “Dear Future Self” in late summer of 2020, with an emphasis on club-ready sounds. The album takes in recorded sessions from their extensive touring around the globe including New Zealand and back to their home city of Berlin, featuring collaborations with artists from Iceland, South Africa, England, and Germany that deliver a collection of danceable focused cuts.
The band comments “This is by far our most club-orientated album to date, with many of the songs road tested all over the world during the previous 18 months. From beautiful sunsets at the beach to industrial warehouses, big festivals to the smallest clubs, only the essentials made it onto the album.”
Tracks “Acid Brain” and “Rigera” up the energy via sweeping leads and crisp percussion, whilst “To the Sea” which features Eli & Fur provides yet another dynamic as slow-blooming melodies and organic percussion go to work alongside further infectious vocal work. “Plexus 3am” offers up playful tones backed by more menacing and hypnotic bass licks, plus “NZ Modular” takes cues from its title as off-kilter analogue synths swirl amongst crunchy drums and sweeping atmospherics, before the album ends with “Atlantic Beam” a production which has already proved to be a favorite amongst both their own sets, but also for a number of leading names within the techno scene.
High resolution and surround sound fanatics will find a Dolby Atmos mix, along with a binaural 3D headphone mix, plus a LPCM stereo codec all mixed and mastered by Fritz Hilpert.
