“Harvest” is a classic album by Neil Young, released in 1972. It features some of Young's most well-known songs, including "Heart of Gold," "Old Man," and "The Needle and the Damage Done." The album was a commercial success, reaching the top of the charts in both the United States and Canada, and it has since been included on numerous lists of the greatest albums of all time. It's a great choice for a desert island collection, as it offers a mix of thoughtful, introspective lyrics and catchy, memorable melodies.
One can also kick back on their beach and take in fully immersive versions of Harvest in both 5.1 surround, found on a DVD, and the recently released Atmos version found via popular streaming sites that offer multi-channel audio streaming. Another special edition is the "Harvest: Deluxe Edition," which was released in 2009 and includes the original "Harvest" album, as well as a second disc featuring previously unreleased outtakes and demos from the "Harvest" recording sessions.
There are also numerous remastered versions of the original "Harvest" album that have been released, which feature improved sound quality and may include bonus tracks or other bonus material.
In addition to these official releases, there are also several bootleg recordings of "Harvest" that have circulated over the years, which may be of interest to collectors. Simply put there is no shortage of versions of this favorited classic album, unfortunately, sad as it is to say, one’s treasure chest can only hold so many discs!
CD, Vinyl, and 192kHz / 24-bit stereo download versions. Also available on some streaming services. An out of print DVD edition contains a 5.1 surround mix, and high resolution stereo mix. An Atmos version is available on Apple Music too.
